St. Paul treated to brass band concert

Writer: Jon PollardJon Pollard

For over thirty years St. Paul’s episcopal church has brought a variety of music to meridian, but it is the first time Mississippi Brass and Percussion of Jackson MS played for the series featuring David Benson as the organist for the recital.

The band is a six-member group of a traditional brass quintet and a percussionist. They played a variety of genres for those in attendance today.

A few of the songs performed were Quintet by Michael Kamen, power of the cross by Keith Getty and Stuart Townsend and Swingtime by John Watson.

The group started in 2013, but the young group has hopes to continuing playing throughout the state.

There are only a few concerts left for the music series.

See more tonight at 9.
