It has been two weeks since UWA students began their spring semester without their teammate, friend, and sister. The sisters of phi mu and friends mourned and reflected on their time with Harris last week at a memorial service.
Harris’s sisters and friends did not just want to remember their beloved friend, but they also wanted to raise awareness. so Harris’s “big sister” in phi mu, Kaitlynn Beiard came up with name hashtag buckle up for Beth and her sisters and Harris’s friends have joined together to spread the word.
Harris’s story is just one of many that have occurred nationwide. And local law enforcement want to keep that fatality number as low as possible.
The campaign has affected students on UWA’s campus to remember to buckle up before going anywhere.
The phi mu sisters have raised over 3500 dollars and the proceed go to the Harris family as well as a scholarship in Harris’s name.
