Despite the downtown road construction, growth and change has occurred throughout last year in downtown meridian including about 16 abandoned buildings that have now been purchased.
a very large way is right… the purchasing of old building such as the Threefoot building, the thrash building that is now bridal store ,the bell south building soon becoming luxury apartments, completion of the Mississippi arts and entertainment, as well as existing businesses expanding and remodeling will bring life back to downtown.
Karen Rooney with Meridian Main Street believes that the success stems from locals investing in to revitalizing downtown as well as having a great community development and tourism department.
Meridian Main Street helps support local developers and business owner to increase economic developments as well as promoting events to bring people downtown.
Rooney says if you want to purchase a building downtown, your choices are slim.
