The Multi-County community service agency will be holding a community awareness day for Quitman and Clarke county residents to help educate them on the job market and other services in and near their community.
Shirley Blanks with the agency says it’s a great way for businesses to network with potential future employees.
“All they have to do is come out. The vendors will be there to help them and give them information. We are also going to have door prizes. Local restaurants are going to be chipping in. Some of the food banks will be giving us information. How to sign up; who is eligible. That's the main thing we want everyone to know."
On top of job market opportunities there will also be information regarding food banks, and even medical information.
“We have legal aid which is coming. We have medical that will be coming out. We also have Winn job center represented because some of the plants out here have closed. So, they will be there to show them what opportunities are out there for them. We are looking to MCC, MSU, and Jones Junior College. We're trying to get them so they can present some options.”
Blanks says that the agency serves nine counties currently and says that they exist to provide a series of services which can include bill assistance.
“We help and assist people with their monthly bills, so they would need to come in and apply. Those without income; we can definitely help those and try to refer them to other people.”
Blanks says that individuals do not need to bring any materials to the event on April 15th.
