The Mississippi Department of Transportation is recognizing May as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month due to stress the importance of motorcycle safety to drivers and motorcyclists alike in helping prevent motorcycle crashes, and eliminating deaths on Mississippi roads.
Owner of the Chunky River Harley Davidson Hal Cooper says that he believes that safety for motorcyclists as well as traditional motorists is of the utmost importance.
Eldon Richardson is a retired veteran and frequently participates in various riding competitions. He says one major key for motorcycle safety is knowing how to operate the bike before getting on the roads but also says that a valuable extra step is learning how to ride in a competitive setting.
At the end of the day Richardson says in most all cases people need to simply use common-sense especially those operating traditional vehicles.
