The City of Meridian is reminding residents that in-person absentee voting is now underway for the referendum to increase the sales tax on restaurant food and beverages by two percent. All voting is taking place on the first floor of city hall.
“Voting is taking place from 8 to 5 o’clock, Monday through Friday. There’s also absentee voting by mail that’s going on right now. Requests for an application to vote absentee by mail can be requested from city hall,” said Richie McAllister, the city’s chief administrative officer.
All absentee votes by mail must be submitted by 5:00 pm on August 15th. The referendum will take place on August 16th from seven to seven.
