Meridian Public Schools are back in session…and residents can show their school support with a new Wildcats car tag.
“When you go purchase your car tag, you add an additional $31 on to your fees for the car tag,” said Calvin Hampton, the head football coach at Meridian High School.
To purchase a car tag, residents must submit an application through the Meridian Public School District website. The district needs at least 300 pre-ordered car tags before they can be produced.
“We need at least 300 pre-sold car tags in order to make this endeavor possible. We have Meridian Wildcat fans all across the state. It shouldn’t be a problem at all for us to make this happen,” said Hampton.
Proceeds from car tag sales will go back to the district.
“Half of the proceeds for this, a large percentage of it, will go towards Meridian Public School District. Therefore, we can use it towards athletics and academics,” said Hampton.
He explained that purchasing a car tag is a way to give back and show Wildcat pride.
“The high school has paved the way for a lot of people in Meridian, the surrounding areas, and in this country. With that being said, with you purchasing a car tag, you show your school loyalty and your school pride for Meridian Public Schools and Meridian High School, and at the same time giving funds back as way of giving back to the community.”
