For residents who plan to go trick-or-treating on Halloween night, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department is issuing a reminder to be safe.
“One of those things is to make sure that they wear a light-colored costume, or that they have some type of reflector or reflective tape or flashlight, so as people are driving by, they will be able to see them. If you’re in an automobile, always make sure children get out on the curb side, so they’re not opening the door with traffic coming by. And of course, don’t go to homes that don’t have any lights on,” said Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun III.
The department says people should also examine trick-or-treat goodies before eating them and should head home at a reasonable hour.
