AT&T fiber-ready sites to promote economic development

Chelsea Jones

The East Mississippi Business Development Corporation and AT&T are using technology to promote economic development. The two announced today that three locations in Lauderdale County are now fiber ready.

“The three parks we announced are the Industrial Park at I-20/59, the Kewanee Mega Site, and the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Industrial Park,” said AT&T Mississippi President, Mayo Flynt.

He explained that the AT&T Fiber Ready designation will attract more businesses to the area.

“We live in a communications intense culture and society now, and businesses more and more rely on that technology. I think this is a definite plus for them. I think this is a plus for the community because it helps communicate that Meridian and Lauderdale County have this latest and greatest technology right here at their home.”

He added that the designation will give businesses access to an effective communications infrastructure.

“We’re talking about internet and data transmissions and voice service too. Many of our businesses today are running their businesses on data capabilities, increasingly video capabilities. So, data speeds and capacity are a big part of what businesses are looking for.”
