Meridian High School was recognized yesterday by community leaders.
Mayor Percy Bland along with other city officials came out to support the local students who have showed leadership skills both on the court and in the community.
In honor of the students, the city held a parade through downtown Meridian and a medal ceremony at city hall.
Among the groups recognized were the 2016 Mississippi 6a State Championship basketball team, the band, women's powerlifting and more.
