Southeast High School hosts Golf Scramble

Southeast Lauderdale High School is hitting the golf course for its second annual Golf Scramble on April 22nd.

“This is a benefit that we started last year to purchase technology in our classrooms. We’ve been continuously fundraising for two years. Hopefully we’ll have enough money this summer to purchase some equipment for our classrooms,” said Principal Russell Keene.

The money will be used to purchase classroom sets of chrome books for the school’s English

department.

“It’s a simple computer. It doesn’t have the bells and whistles of a windows machine, but it gets you on the internet. You can type, research, and do presentations,” said Keene.

The school also hopes to purchase smartboards.

“As much as budget cuts are going on right now, we have to pick up the short fall. Our kids have got to graduate and be technology literate, where they can find jobs and continue their education in college,” said Keene.

The golf tournament will be held April 22nd at the Lakeview golf course. There’s still time to sign up and participate.

“It’s $200 for a team of four. It’s a four-man scramble. We’re asking that if you have a golf cart to bring it to the scramble. It’s a 9:00 shotgun start. We’re really asking for whole sponsors right now. It’s $100 a whole sponsor. All you have to do is call the school,” said Keene.
