
A celebration known for the end of slavery, Juneteenth is this Saturday. Meridian is having its 15th annual Juneteenth Heritage Festival at Singing Brakeman Park. The event will kick off at 6 p.m. with games, vendors, and live music.
“We’ll have Jeff Floyd return. It’s been five years since he’s been here. We have Mississippi Po’ Boy from Canton. We have Alvin Garrett and Just A Few Cats coming out of the Birmingham area. Then we have a couple of local bands,” said Louis Sutton Jr.
Tickets are $10 in advance and can be purchased at Sam’s Fashion clothing store. Tickets will be $15 at the gate.
