You’re in for quite a spook if you visit the haunted house at Southeast Lauderdale High School.
“We’ve been working on this haunted house since the beginning of school. At first, we don’t do quite as much back here because we have safety procedures we have to go over. But as it gets closer, we start spending more and more time back here, working, putting up stuff, walls, decorations, the little details,” said Keaton Jameison, a 12th grader.
Every year, Southeast students apart of SkillsUSA, a class geared towards construction and technology, put on a very popular and highly anticipated haunted house.
“We pretty much just sit down in class. When we don’t have anything to do, we sit and have a debate. When somebody says something that sticks, it just comes together,” said Jamieson.
Last year, the haunted house drew over 2,000 visitors. The crowd is expected to be even larger this year. The house features 17 rooms and a maze.
In addition to creepy monsters, you’re sure to see a few ghosts, and of course… spooky clowns. Students invite the community to come out and show their support.
“You should come out to see this because you’re supporting a class of a school that does a lot for you whether you realize it or not. We fix desks. The picnic tables out there, we built those. We do a lot to keep this place running,” said Jamieson.
Starting Wednesday tonight, residents can take a walking tour between 6 and 10 p.m. Tours will be offered every Friday this month and from October 28th through the 31st. Tickets are $5.
