The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department have charged two people—a former correctional officer and a murder suspect – with conspiracy to introduce contraband into the Lauderdale County Detention Facility. Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says Vashanda Clark and Deonta Stephens are now facing charges after deputies received a tip about their activity and intercepted a package delivery. Clark’s bond has been set at $10,000. Since Stephens is in custody for a 2015 murder charge, he has no bond. The Sheriff’s department is still investigating the case to see if others were involved in the contraband smuggling.
