City of Meridian’s Candy Crawl is on the way

Chelsea Jones

If you’re looking for a different way to trick-or-treat this Halloween…. The City of Meridian may have just what you’re looking for. The city is hosting its annual spook-tacular Candy Crawl.

“It’s always just a great family-fun environment for the kids and the adults,” said Laura Carmichael, the cultural affairs director for the city.

The event is Tuesday, October 24, on City Hall Lawn and starts at 4:30 p.m. Adults and children are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costume and bring their trick-or-treat bowls because over 30 businesses will be giving away candy.

“Kids will be able to trick-or-treat at the local businesses as well as on City Hall Lawn. We have some that will be setting up booths,” said Carmichael.

But that’s not all, there will be a number of activities, everything from arts and crafts to scavenger hunts and even a scary story hour.

“We have pony rides, face painting, a costume contest, there’ll even be a thriller dance. So, all those things that make this time of the year fun. You’ll be able to have it right here in downtown Meridian,” said Carmichael.

She explained that the event provides not only fun but exposure to local businesses.

“We’ve got some great new businesses downtown. Restaurants get involved. As the children and adults are going around to each one, they can also take a peek at what they have to offer. So, it’s just a great night for everybody.”
