Superintendent meets with students to discuss teen issues

Chelsea Jones

Teens face many challenges at school and in their personal lives, and Wednesday, Lauderdale County School Superintendent Randy Hodges met with students to discuss how adults can help teens with confronting those challenges. Hodges talked with six students from each of the four Lauderdale County high schools to discuss topics like bullying, peer pressure, date rape, and suicide.

“They did a super job of expressing themselves. They gave us some great information. We’ll take it very seriously and we’re going to try and help. I sincerely believe that as educators, teachers, principals, and counselors that we can make a difference in helping them with the challenges they face,” said Hodges.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie and school counselors also joined the conversation. The district said it will continue to have more discussions with students.
