
Meridian, MS - The 2024 Distinguished Young Women of Mississippi has been named.
Lamar County’s Sadie Perkins was named the overall winner of the program.
Perkins was one of 29 Mississippi high school seniors, who competed for more than $33,000 in college scholarships during three nights of competition at The Evangel Temple Church.
Perkins also won Overall Talent for her jazz dance presentation of “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston, and Overall Fitness.
Perkins plans to attend the University of Alabama to pursue a career as an occupational therapist.
She will compete in the Distinguished Young Women of 2024 finals in June 2024, which are held in Mobile, Alabama.
