3k Run/Walk in Memory of Officer Croom

Meridian MS - Meridian Police Department, and Special Response Team (SRT) MDOT hosted a 3k run/walk today.

MPD Detective Chanetta Stevens explains why this event is so special. “Today we’re having a 3k walk-slash-run in memory of Officer Kennis Croom. He was dedicated to his job, and I just don’t want the community to forget about him.”

Speaking of the community, runner Zachary Ball also shared a few words about Officer Croom. “He was a great man that was trying to protect somebody from getting hurt to domestic violence. So, I just wanted to do this for the cause and in memory of him.”

Officer Croom was killed after responding to a domestic violence call last year. Money raised in today’s 3k run/walk will go to help Officer Croom’s family.
