Meridian, MS - Merrehope is set to take on a new look for the holidays.

The 55th Annual Trees of Christmas celebration will begin this upcoming Sunday, as designers have decorated over 50 Christmas trees throughout the entire house.

Co-chair of the Trees of Christmas, Bet Deweese, explains how special this event is.

“Trees of Christmas is a huge family tradition for a lot of people in Meridian. I know my kids grew up coming and having their picture with Santa Claus made here.”

It was 1998 the last time Merrehope was offering pictures with Santa Claus during this event, and the staff couldn’t be more excited about it.

The tours start at 1 p.m. this upcoming Sunday for the Opening Gala.

“It’ll be from 1 to 4. We will have light refreshments and entertainment. But it’s the first day that people can come in and see all the trees and see all of the displays.”

Mrs. Deweese also expressed why Trees of Christmas is so important to Merrehope.

“It’s our major fundraiser for the year. It helps us with our operating expenses throughout the year, and repairs, and whatever else needs to happen at Merrehope.”

Adults will pay $15, Military and Senior Citizens will pay $10, and students will cost $5.
