Across the U.S cases of the delta, variants are taking over emergency rooms. Icu beds are running out in hospitals and leaving no room for other emergencies. Which was the case for a family of an Alabama man who traveled 200 miles to meridian’s rush foundation hospital for treatment for cardiac arrest.

73-year-old Ray Demonia suffered a heart attack in Alabama in which his family immediately went to the nearest hospital to them.
With covid cases on the rise filling up hospitals, Demonia's family says that they were repeatedly turned away due to the hospitals being at full capacity.
In search of an ICU bed, the family contacted 43 hospitals before locating one 200 miles away here in meridian at Rush Foundation Hospital.

By the time 73-year-old Ray Demonia reached the hospital he passed away from the cardiac event.
In Demonia's obituary, the family members are asking for people to get the covid-19 vaccine to allow more resources in hospitals for non- Covid emergencies.
