The entire 8th grade class at Quitman Junior High School will be following a distancing learning plan for the next 14 days.

It was announced on Friday, October 23 that all 8th grade students would follow a distance learning plan beginning today, October 26, and will continue to do so until Monday, November 9.
Quitman Junior High’s principal shared that it is due to not having enough 8th grade teachers to teach on campus, due to majority of them having to be quarantined, because of recent contact tracing.
“We have six 8th grade teachers total, four out of them will be out beginning today, a total of four, due to quarantines. Therefore we did not have enough teachers to teach the 8th grade class. So, we felt like the only option that we had was to dismiss the students for 14 days,” said Bill Russell, Principal at Quitman Junior High School.
He also stated that students and teachers should be well adjusted to distance learning since they have had designated days to do so, since they have been following the hybrid schedule. Adding that teachers will continue to provide students with work and lesson, while they are quarantined.
“Those teachers that are quarantined will work from home, they will still be responsible for posting lessons through google classroom, i-Ready, as well as several other different avenues they use right now,” said Russell.

Quitman Junior High School will continue to provide updates to students and parents if any changes are made regarding on-campus or distance learning.
