An AmeriCorps team is working to rebuild and revamp RV camping pads at the Clarkco State Park near Quitman. The group has been working since last Friday and will continue throughout the week with the goal of restoring as many pads as possible. AmeriCorps is a 10-month residential service program geared toward young adults to work with different organizations and projects.
“We find a lot of value working in state parks. We’ve worked in state parks before and it’s just something about being able to build something like this that we know is going to not only enhance everyone’s experiences being here, but it’s going to last," said Sophia Farchione, AmeriCorps Team Leader. "We’re making quality work and it’s going to be around forever.”
After their work at the Clarkco Park, the team will then head to Lake Charles, Louisiana for disaster relief efforts of Hurricane Laura.
