Anderson Fitness Center launches shoe drive fundraiser

Anderson Health and Fitness Center is hosting a shoe drive fundraiser to raise funds for ‘Ascent for a Cure’ which raises awareness of Parkinson’s Disease. They are collecting new or gently worn sneakers and funds will be received based on the total weight of the shoes. Funds2Orgs will issue a check to go toward the nonprofit organization. Anderson Health and Fitness Center says they have already collected around 50 pairs of shoes.

“They’re sent to developing countries and people are able to use these shoes. They clean them up and repair them if needed and they are used to start small businesses for Micro Businesses in developing countries to give people in poverty a way out through a business development,” said Adam Hodges, General Manager of Anderson Health and Fitness Center. “It’s good to know that we are helping people in developing countries with economic opportunities.”

Anyone who donates a pair of sneakers will be automatically entered to receive one month free membership to Anderson Health and Fitness Center. To learn more, visit sneakers4funds.com.
