Anderson Health System honors nurse with DAISY Award

The Anderson Regional Health System awarded their first DAISY Award to a registered nurse for her outstanding work with patients. DAISY is the acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. This program rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinic skill and compassion care given by nurses.

Melissa Wright is the first recipient of the award out of thirty-five nomination stories.

“Nobody will ever know how excited I am about this. When I take care of patient, I put everything out there. Everyone is treated like my own family and how I would want my own family to be treated. They have to be taken care of and I want them to have the best treatment because that’s what they deserve. The benefits of this award is to encourage patients and nurses to do what they're supposed to do to make a patient do their best, feel their best and be their best."

Wright was awarded a certificate, a DAISY award pin and a hand-carved stone sculpture that reads ‘A Healer’s Touch’ from Zimbabwe. Along with Wright’s award, she receives DAISY Foundation benefits and opportunities to further her career and development as an RN.

Anderson Regional Health System plans to honor a nurse each month.
