A group of women brought the Valentine spirit to Anderson Regional Health System today through gifts sent to the hospital from New York students.

Here at Anderson Regional Health System volunteers spread love and joy to some employees and patients. Some of the volunteers have been at Anderson Regional for more than 10 years.
“Today is a special day because we’re showing that love and that joy to people who serve here”, said volunteer Sarah Crenshaw. “We serve as volunteers, so it gives us great joy to go and show that love.”

Sarah Crenshaw became a volunteer after seeing how nice and supportive the Anderson staff was to her own mother while she was in the hospital.
“It makes me feel really good to volunteer here because when my mom was here off and on for thirteen years, the hospitality was so good. So, when I retired, I felt divine and led to volunteer here at this hospital where my mom had been and they took care of her so well.”

Along with the poems and flowers the volunteers gave out, the hospital received a box with more than 600 hand painted rocks from George Washington Middle School in Jamestown, New York.
Crenshaw says the employees have been happy to receive them.
“Most of them are very happy, very appreciative because we’re taking it to them and giving of ourselves. That’s our job. To make people feel good because when they come to the hospital they might not feel quite so well.”
The hospital says the box of hand-painted rocks randomly showed up to the hospital with a note attached for the Anderson employees.
