Dogs behind cages at the East Mississippi Animal Rescue are in need of your help in finding a home. Paula Joyner says even though business hasn’t slowed down during the pandemic, they’re main concern is monetary donations.
“Our vet bills can run to 2,000 for about twice a month for all the animals," said Paula Joyner, Executive Director of the shelter. "So monetary donations are important because the money is short and it’s hard to do so much for the animals.”
Holding a total of 25 animals at the moment, Joyner is limited on how many dogs she can support since it’s a private facility, but she’s always willing to help.

“We’re limited on how many we can take in because I’m the one that takes care of them usually twice a day. We try to take in what we can," said Joyner. "We also help the other counties that don’t have animal control.”
Joyner advises families not to just adopt a pet, but be mindful of what it takes to make them feel loved.
“They do need a home. It’s still important that pets are a lifelong journey. There’s plenty put there needing homes.”
