TODAY WAS A VERY BUSY DAY FOR EMERGENCY OFFICIALS, AND RESIDENTS ALIKE. OUR VERY OWN DANNY TODD WENT INTO THE COMMUNITY AND SPOKE WITH LOCAL RESIDENTS ABOUT THEIR SCARY EXPERIENCE.
Storms blew through the south today ahead of a cold front leaving many without power and damages widespread. We speak with people in the area as they talk to us about what happened on their property, and just thankful no lives were affected.
Lee Youngblood-Hickory Resident says he's usually paranoid about severe weather, which prompted him to build a storm shelter in his home. He said the rotation and storm looks like it came within 100 yards of hitting his home.
Lee Youngblood added although they have a big mess to clean up he is extremely thankful that to his knowledge no lives were personally affected.

We speak with Mr. Glenn Miller on Edwards Rd. here in Hickory, and it's definitely one of the hardest hit places in the area. He tells us that he was home alone, and he heard the AWFUL wind attached to the storm. He had windows busted out, he had damage to his carport ceiling, and multiple buildings on his property.

We also visited North Hickory Rd., and you can see where the rotation from earlier that we were talking about came through Hickory made a direct path right over this road as you can see the trees are laid down in a dominos effect.

Jerry Todd is a local resident who says they are extremely blessed, and as he went to his sisters house he could see the clouds and sky spinning and he immediately knew it was a tornado. He added that he didn't see it on the ground because he ran in and took safety precautions for his family. He said it felt like a minute or so, and then it was gone.
This storm left a lot of people without power, and created an extra hassle in people's lives, but the main response we got from everyone is they were extremely blessed to just be alive. One resident said things like this puts into perspective on what's important in life.
