If your looking for a cool way to spend your Saturday this weekend, Twin States News Danny Todd tells us about a pee wee Superbowl event that will be taking place at Newton County High School this Saturday.
When we hear Super Bowl, we automatically think of the first or second Sunday in February. However, this Super Bowl has a little different meaning. Peewee football teams from all over the surrounding areas come out to see who has what it takes to come out on top.
Greg Fulton- commissioner to area-wide sports elite says "We're excited about the 5th year anniversary of sports elite football. The big Super Bowl will be held at Newton County High School, home of the Cougars.
Commissioner Gregg Fulton added that there will be more than just football going on a dance competition, sack races, and field goal kicks for door prizes just to name a few.
Greg Fulton says "We're looking for all the people in the surrounding counties to come out and support your youth because the youth are the future.
Area-wide Sports Elite is thankful for this opportunity because it really puts a spotlight on the young athletes and gives them something to look forward to. I thank God for the privilege and honor to be able to reach and mentor kids at the same time, please come out and support the youth on November 19th, starting at 12:30 p.m. at Newton County High School."
Fulton also tells Twin States News that there will be plenty of security and full concessions on hand.
One of the mothers attached to the event pointed out that it's important that the schools and communities get behind these young people because the majority of them are at every high school game supporting their mentors.
