Meridian, MS - The Museum is excited to have opened its new exhibit for the community to come, see and learn about a different culture. “It is going to celebrate the celebrations of lunar new year in China, South Korea, and Vietnam, and it is to deepen cultural understanding between us and nations of East Asia.” says Hope Vollm.
Hope Vollm is the assistant director of education programs and feels the new exhibit will impact more than just the museum. “We’re going to be able to lone it out to libraries, schools, and other small museums, and it’s a great way to give people who might not be able to go to giant cities to see exhibits like this something new that they’ve never seen before.”
So, what will visitors see in the exhibit? “A little bit of everything, it just showcases different aspects of those lunar new year celebrations, and everything is interactive, they can touch everything, it’s great.”
Speaking of different aspects, Shawn Loughman of Ohio is married into Asian culture, and enjoyed bringing his family to see the new exhibit. “I mean they get to learn a little bit more about their history and culture, and other culture of the Asian descent.”
The exhibit is open to the family and children to come and enjoy until November 3rd.
