Meridian MS - The Astro Motel off south frontage road in Meridian is being demolished this week.
The motel has served the community for over 40 years.
The Lala Family, who own the motel, is looking forward to building a new hotel, bringing new jobs and what they promise will be a nicer place to stay.
The new hotel is expected to take around 16 months to build and will have over 100 rooms.
