Bland announces run for re-election

Mayor Percy Bland announced his reelection for mayor of Meridian Tuesday on the front steps of City Hall. Bland has served as mayor of Meridian for seven years and is looking forward to serving his third term. Bland says the city is conducting progress on many project developments that are expected to be complete in the spring of 2021.

“We have a lot of major projects that I feel like we have started and are on the verge of completion, but I want to be there for them to be completed. Of course we still have COVID going on--a worldwide pandemic and I want to be there for our people to get us through this.”

Bland says if he’s re-elected, he will focus on projects of paving streets of Meridian and area investments.

"For this city, I think the transformation of downtown has started the process to bringing a spirit and a hope throughout the whole city. Hopefully over this next few years--if re-elected, we can continue with some of our projects on paving and demolition of properties so we can have some better neighborhoods."

The primary election is in April.
