Blues artist Bobby Rush to perform at the MSU Riley Center Dec.19

In Meridian , the MSU Riley Center is welcoming blues artist, Bobby Rush, who just received his sixth Grammy award nomination, to perform on stage on Saturday, December 19.


The solo blues concert will begin at 7:30 pm. 87-year-old Bobby Rush, Louisiana Native, now lives in Jackson, Mississippi, and is a member of the Blues Hall of Fame, and a winner of 13 Blues Music Awards. His most recent Grammy nomination was for best traditional blues album. According to the executive director at the MSU Riley Center, seating will be limited to 50% capacity for this performance, and other precautionary methods have been put in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, hoping to still draw a good-sized crowd.

“A lot of people are afraid to come out, so there’s boundaries, one way or the other. If it wasn’t for COVID, it’d be packed out immediately. So, but I think that if people saw, if people understood how we’ve gone to great lengths to make people safe here, we hope people will come out for that, if nothing else,” said Dr. Daniel Barnard, executive director at the MSU Riley Center,
