Bridge Builders of Meridian honors Southeast Elementary faculty, staff with roses

A surprise presentation was made at Southeast Lauderdale Elementary School for faculty and staff. Bridge Builders of Meridian honored all teachers with a rose of appreciation for their hard work during the pandemic.

Throughout each school year, the community based group presents a bouquet of roses, gift baskets and gift cards to two lucky faculty or staff members, although the principal could not only pick two members for the honor this time around.

“This year I just could not choose only two staff members because of the hard work everybody’s put in,” says Southeast Elementary School Principal Ryan Powell. “As most of community knows, we had to shutdown the school for reasons of COVID-19 and our staff was ready. We’re just so excited to have their hard work and being able recognize all of our staff.”

“Usually at Bridge Builders of Meridian, we dedicate a token of appreciation to two teachers, outstanding teachers,” Bridge Builders of Meridian Dewayne Davis explains. “This year were going to dedicate it to all the teachers--all 60 of them to show our appreciation with the they’re going through with COVID.”

Principal Ryan Powell volunteered to buy enough roses so every teacher would receive one. Approximately 60 roses were handed out. Teachers were deeply moved by the acknowledgement.
