Burn Ban in South Mississippi Counties.

Meridian, MS - A burn ban is still in effect in South Mississippi Counties until further notice.

Anything with an open flame that produces an ember is not allowed.

The City of Meridian and Fire Chief Jason Collier also want to inform the public that burning is not allowed in the city at all. “It would create smog or whatever if everybody decided to burn at once, because there are so many people in a square mile area.” says Fire Chief Jason Collier

Over 40 counties are listed on the burn ban including Lauderdale, Newton, Clarke, and Jasper County.
