In Neshoba County, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians announced that this year’s Choctaw Indian Fair has been canceled due to the public health threat presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The annual fair features cultural displays, social dancing, tribal arts and crafts, Choctaw stickball, and the Choctaw Indian Princess Pageant. The anticipated opening night for next year’s Choctaw Indian Fair is Wednesday, July 14th. Tribal Chief Cyrus Ben encourages tribal members to continue to practice and respect the precautionary measures put in place by public health officials, to continue to preserve Choctaw traditions.
