The Merry Meridian Christmas Parade is scheduled for tomorrow in downtown at 5pm. Due to COVID-19, this year’s parade will look different. The city has changed the setting of the parade for safety concerns.
“We were concerned about the pandemic and COVID and how it would impact our community so we did make a few changes. We have limited the number of participants that we will be having this year as compared to other years,” said Meridian Community Development Director Laura Carmichael.
The theme for this year’s parade is “Holiday Parade of Heroes" honoring workers on the frontlines fighting COVID-19. While attending the parade, masks are required and social distancing will be enforced.

“If you are gathering and standing together, keep it with your family members--those you know--socially distance otherwise,” said Carmichael. “Make sure you have hand sanitizer.”
The Christmas parade route will begin on 25th Avenue and end at the post office on 22nd Avenue. Todd Tilghman will be the grand marshal for the event.
Carmichael says the parade will be live streamed form Mayor Percy Bland’s Facebook page as well as the City’s Facebook page.
