Due to a COVID-19 related incident in the Public Works Department, the City of Meridian is taking precautionary measures to keep employees safe.
However, the Public Works Department will continue to provide area residents and businesses with all essential services.
“We have a possible case,” says Public Safety Director Doug Stephens. “Due to the fact that we don’t need to shut down a large majority of our Public Works Division, we thought it was in the best interest to go ahead and test those individuals and make sure that we've gotten those that may have been affected tested so we could move forward. If we end up with positive test then we know those people need to be off."
The city of Meridian plans to be fully operational by Tuesday, July 21st. If any changes are made, the public will be notified.
Mayor Bland encourages everyone to continue to follow all safety guidelines.
