City Of Meridian Recieves A- Rating From S&P Global Ratings

Today in Meridian, city officials held a press conference, providing an update on the city’s infrastructure, the city authorizing debt service savings, and the introduction of the acting police chief.

City officials were happy to report, that Meridian has received an A- from S&P Global Ratings on its water and utility system, ranking the creditworthiness of the city. Meridian has also authorized the refinancing of some its bonds to potentially take advantage of more than $300,000 in savings, hoping to free up cash flow for the city. Additionally, there was a formal introduction of Lt. Patrick Gale, who is now serving as the acting chief of the Meridian Police Department.

“This A- Rating from S&P and Moody’s is very strong for us as a city. It shows that fiscally we are doing the things that we need to do, making sure that taxpayer’s money is going to the places that it needs to go. We have continued to pay down a lot of debt, we have continued to move forward, with big projects in our city,” said Mayor Percy Bland.

City officials anticipate that these changes will continue to move the city forward.
