Clarke County EMA advises residents to avoid large gatherings this upcoming holiday weekend

In Clarke County, the director of the Clarke County Emergency Management Agency is advising residents to remain cautious and to not participate in large gatherings this upcoming holiday weekend.


With state health officials advising against large gatherings this holiday season due to the threat of COVID-19, Clarke County EMA Director, Eddie Ivy, is encouraging local residents to continue to follow the CDC and Mississippi State Department of Health’s recommended guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the holidays weekend. Hoping to prevent an uptick in COVID-19 case numbers following the holiday season.

“There’s been lots of research going on this past year about how this stuff spreads, and right now the current recommendations are social distance, keen 6 feet between you and the person next to you, wearing a mask if you’re in a social setting and obviously hand washing, -- those kind of things, but also limit the number of people in your gathering,” said Eddie Ivy.

COVID-19 testing is still being conducted weekly in Clarke County on Tuesday’s, from 11am-6pm at the Clarke County Health Department.
