The Clarke County Emergency Management Agency is concerned about the rainfall and windspeeds Tropical Depression Beta may bring to the county.

Clarke County EMA Director Eddie Ivy shared that although tropical Depression Beta is weakening, it is still expected to bring up to 2 inches of rainfall to the county, which could become an issue if the storm stalls over the area. Also stating, that some of the windspeeds brought with it could still be strong enough to bring down powerlines.

“Flash flooding is a concern we’re always are alert to that we always have to make sure that we are monitoring those things, but just like that, the tornadoes that can spin up from something like that. The winds, the rain, all of those things are things we have to think about and consider, ” said Eddie ivy, Clarke County EMA Director.

He offers a reminder to residents that hurricane season is still in full swing, saying that it has already been an active year for these tropical storms.

“We’re honestly in one of the highest active times for our hurricane season that affects our area historically, and there’s still activity in the Gulf and out in the ocean. There’s still things forming that we’re monitoring. So, no we’re nowhere close to out of hurricane season. Y’all know it runs through November 30, but its been a very active year so far,” said Ivy.

Clarke County Emergency Management Agency is continuing to monitor Tropical Depression Beta, and encourages residents to remain prepared and to always have an emergency place in place
