Quitman, MS - Christmas time is well known as the season of giving, and that’s exactly what Belinda Allen, and the Clark County Tribune, are encouraging people to do for their Reverse Advent Calendar Project.
“You know how you buy the little calendars that have chocolates in them? Well, instead of you receiving something, you go, and you buy one item for each day to donate,” says Allen.
This is the 2nd year the tribune has held their Advent Calendar, and they’ve decided to expand to more than just food item donations. “This year we’ve also added creature comforts, so people can do dog food, dog treats, dog toys, kitty litter, all those kinds of things.”
Donations toward the Advent Calendar can be dropped off at the Clarke County Tribune until from now December 21st and will go to benefit the Clarke County Baptist Center, the local CAN group, and the local community food boxes. “Right now, times are tough. You know, a lot of people are having to deal with budget cuts and things like that, and there are a lot of families who just need that little extra help, and it’s amazing to see the community come together and donate to make sure no one goes hungry this year.”
The last day for donations is December 21st. Anyone looking to donate to the Clarke County Tribune can donate Monday – Friday, From 8:30 to 5PM.
