Meridian, MS - Meridian and Lauderdale County Excel By 5 held its second annual community baby shower today.
New parents and future parents all came to get extra resources to help with parenting.
“This community baby shower is for our parents, our mothers, our expecting mothers. Just to let them know that the community has their back and that we are here for you.”
Cisley Barksdale also explains the benefits of this event.
“We have our vendors, we’re showing you all of the resources that we have in Meridian and Lauderdale County. Anything dealing with the mother or the child, they are here to help you.”
New parent and the Parent and Community Engagement Specialist for the Meridian Public School District, Adrian Phillips, tells Twins States News how helpful this event is in hindsight.
“Not only am I learning a lot, but I’m realizing I should have come here last year, because my baby is 11 months old, and I could have really used a lot of this help then.”
