Continuing The Rebirth

Community Development Director Craig Hitt officially started his post Wednesday. Hitt formerly served as Lauderdale county’s district 3 supervisor for 3 terms.

Hitt is hoping that through his services as a community developer; that the city of Meridian will leave a lasting impression on visitors and residents.

“I hope that people who come into a visit or live that they will see a city that is welcoming to them and see a business that is providing the services that they are looking for ,and just an atmosphere that will encourage them to come be a part of us", said Hitt

The rebirth of Meridian is a project that Hitt’s is looking to continue. Conversations on businesses old and new have already begun.

“I’ve had conversations with Mayor Smith on how we can serve small businesses and encourage other small businesses to come to the city of Meridian. What’s going on in downtown Meridian is vital for our future in our opinion. We want to be here to support those who are making investments in downtown Meridian. Support them in any way that we can so that their business is successful.”- Criag Hitt, Community Development Director

Hitt is looking forward to continuing his role in the rebirth and as a community developer.
