Distinguished Young Women of Mississippi Scholarship Program To Be Held Virtually

In Meridian, the Distinguished Young Women of Mississippi scholarship program, formerly known as Mississippi’s Junior Miss, was scheduled to hold its competition in the city next week, but will now be holding its program virtually in mid to late September, due to challenges presented by COVID-19.

28 rising high-school senior girls from around the state will compete for the title of Mississippi’s next Distinguished Young Woman. The virtual program will include all standard phases of the competition the winner will represent Mississippi at the national finals in Mobile, Alabama, in June 2021, and take home more than$23,500 in cash scholarships. Participants will compete in interview (25%), scholastics (25%), talent (20%), fitness (15%) and self-expression (15%).
