Due to COVID-19, the City of Meridian will not host the annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb this year. Although, Director of East Mississippi Hub for Volunteers and Nonprofits, Casey Culpepper still wants to support the cause.
In place of the stair climb, the Hub has provided a list of challenges for the community to adopt an act of service or donate to the 9/11 sheet and pillow fundraiser.
“One girl had already had this fundraiser set up so I partnered with her and helped advertise the sheet and pillow fundraiser and proceeds for that will go to the stair climb fund," says Culpepper. "A day of service project--this is one thing the hub wants to promote is volunteerism."
Once your challenge is complete, the Hub asks for those to use #911challenge on your social media post.
“In remembrance of 9/11, we always want to support our first responders especially around this time of year. It’s just a perfect way to acknowledge them and show our appreciation. They do so much for us, so this is just a perfect way to support them by donating.”
The Hub asks for any donations to be turned in by Friday, September 11th. The following Monday, the Hub will come together to discuss the amount donated for the stair climb. To access the list of community challenges and information on donating, visit here.
