As Hurricane Delta prepares to make landfall in the states, the East Mississippi Electric Power Association and Mississippi Power are ready to respond if needed.
“We have all of our crews ready on standby throughout the weekend to respond, should we have any outages in our area as a result to the storm. Our engineering teams have met,” says EMEPA Director of Marketing/Communications Julie Boles.
Mississippi Power says they are always ready to service other utilities.
“If the storm impacts out service territory, we will have local line crews on hand, having equipment on hand so we can jump into action as soon as it’s safe to do so,” Mississippi Power Spokeswoman Kaila Moran Griffith explains. “If our service territory is spared, we will be ready to assist another utility if requested.”

Both Mississippi Power and the East Mississippi Electric Power Association provide customers a way to report and review current outages right from their mobile device.
“And what that does is--you can put in your address and be alerted if there’s an outage at your address, if you’re at home or evacuating for a storm,” says Griffith.
Both companies encourage their customers to view their online tips and procedures before a storm.
“They will find a storm center that has a lot of resources and educational information for preparing for a storm,” says Boles. “What to do before, during and after a storm, safety tips, and generator safety information.”
