Meridian, MS - Kids brought their thinking caps with them today to an exciting visit to the Mississippi Children's Museum.

Students from Meridian and surrounding areas competed in the C Spire C3 Jr. Coding Challenge that kicks off the 3-day event, Science Saturday.

“Elementary-aged students get a chance to code a robot, and it runs its course,” says C Spire's PR Specialist LaToya Moore.

LaToya Moore also spoke about the importance of encouraging the youth to be tech-savvy.

“Jobs in technology and coding are predicted to more than double over the next few years. I think they actually benefit from knowing technology at an early age because that is where the job force is headed.”

The first-place team won a new iPad, trophy, and their entire class was awarded a future field trip back to the Museum.
