EMCC offering free workforce training to eligible SNAP recipients

Students at East Mississippi Community College who are eligible for SNAP benefits can join a workforce training through the SKILLS2WORK program.

The training is available through EMCC’s workforce and community service division which includes a diverse course of studies.

“This short term training could be a matter of weeks until a few months,” says program director Sha’Carla Petty. “Once they complete that training, within the training, they receive a certificate of completion and from that training they can also receive certification.”

After completion of the program, students have the opportunity to transition into the workforce. To qualify, applicants must be enrolled in SNAP, reside in the EMCC district and present a silver-level national career readiness certificate.
