Starting on March 12th, eligible households will have a chance to receive broadband services and digital devices at a reduced rate.
Federal Communications Commissions, better known as the FCC, has announced an initiative to temporarily discount monthly broadband services for qualifying households. This will also include discounted rates for computers and tablets through a 3.2 billion dollar federally approved program.
Here’s what we know so far. An eligible household meeting the criteria will receive up to $50 per month in discounts.
Tribal land households can receive up to $75 per month off services.
And a one-time discount on computer devices includes laptops, desktops, and tablets.
More than 825 broadband providers will participate in the program, such as large service providers like Xfinity, AT&T, and T-mobile.
To sign up for the temporary discounts on your broadband service or digital devices, you have 3 ways in which you can enroll. Contact your participating providers, enroll online at getemergencybroadband.org by clicking here, or sign-up by mailing in an application. Remember this initiative is a federal program so it’s available in all 50 states. To take a look at participating providers in your states, click on this link.
