Jasper County, MS - The Federal Emergency Management Agency, also known as FEMA, has closed its recovery center in Louin, Mississippi, opening a mobile recovery unit at the Jasper County Emergency Management Agency in Bay Springs.
“We’re going to be here until we’re no longer needed, and now that we’ve converted over to this mobile unit, there is a possibility you may see us in your community." says La-Tanga Hopes
According to FEMA Media Specialist La-Tanga Hopes, the mobile unit is expected to provide better access to assistance to all of those who were affected by the ef-3 tornado back in June. “What that means for the people that are in Louin, or any of the other counties, or the other cities, that are near, or related, or apart of Jasper County, you are available to apply for disaster assistance with FEMA.”
As FEMA is still in the process of taking assistance applications, the agency hopes to help all who they can. “We ask you to consider your situation, if you’re not safe, if you’re not sanitary, if your home is not functioning that way that it was before the tornado, there may be some recovery support available to you from FEMA.”
The FEMA Center says they will be open today through the rest of the week from 8 until 5PM
